A Word from Our President

Welcome to
Theta Lambda

Brothers, friends, and prospective members — welcome. Theta Lambda Chapter has served the greater Atlanta metropolitan area with distinction since our chartering, and today we carry that spirit forward with renewed purpose and energy.

Iota Phi Theta was built not on inheritance, but on intention. Founded in 1963 by young men of vision who refused to let circumstance define their ceilings, ours remains the youngest and fastest-growing fraternity in the Divine Nine precisely because we build — every day, in every community we touch.

Whether you are a prospective member exploring brotherhood, a returning Iota seeking reclamation, or a community partner looking to collaborate, know that this chapter's door is open. We lead with excellence, serve with humility, and build with intention.

A Tradition Built
from the Ground Up

Building a Tradition,
Not Resting Upon One
— Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. · Founded 1963

On September 19, 1963, twelve visionary men at Morgan State University founded Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. — establishing a brotherhood not born of legacy, but built through determination. In an era when the civil rights movement was reshaping America, these founding fathers chose to create something new: an organization rooted in scholarship, citizenship, and service, free from the presumption that greatness must be inherited.

Theta Lambda Chapter carries that founding spirit into the Atlanta metropolitan area each and every day. Chartered by brothers who believed that community impact is never finished — only advanced — our chapter has mentored young men, partnered with civic organizations, and planted roots in neighborhoods across DeKalb and Fulton counties. We do not rest on the work of those who came before us. We build upon it.

Reclaim Your Brotherhood

Life moves fast. If your bond with Iota has lapsed — whether through relocation, career demands, or simply the passing of time — Theta Lambda welcomes you home. Reclamation is not a penalty process; it is an invitation back to purpose.

Scholarship & Philanthropy

Invest in the
Next Generation

The Theta Lambda Scholarship Fund has awarded over $240,000 to deserving students across the Atlanta metropolitan area since the chapter's founding. Our scholars are chosen not only for academic achievement, but for demonstrated service to their communities and commitment to uplifting those around them.

Each dollar donated to the Theta Lambda Scholarship Fund goes directly toward student awards, no administrative fees deducted. Your generosity makes a measurable difference in a young person's trajectory.

The chapter also accepts in-kind donations and corporate sponsorships for our I-Power and community events programming. Contact our Philanthropic Committee Chair for partnership inquiries.
